Date of Passing: Jan 25, 2001
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBARBARA ELIZABETH LOVE (nee THAIN) We announce the passing of Barbaras spirit to be with her Lord on January 25, 2001. Mother was at home with family, after a year of illness that followed a broken hip that occurred while she was bowling. Barbara graduated from Childrens Hospital in 1936. She enjoyed a long and fulfilling career in nursing. During the Second World War, she worked at Deer Lodge Hospital and she ended her career as a nurse when she retired from Shriners Hospital in 1983. In addition to her weekly River-Heights bowling league, mother enjoyed her Home League meetings and volunteering with the Childrens Hospital Book Market. Barbara married Robert Samuel Love of Dauphin Mb. in 1945. Over the next 40 years, she raised and cared for as many as 23 foster children. Four of those children remained with her permanently, and will cherish her memory: Daniel Love, James Love, Cynthia Derkach and Robert Tesarski. Also left to mourn are her grandchildren, Barbara-Maria & Vince Guimond, Joel Epp, Charles Epp, Joshua Houle and Charlotte Love Chapman, as well as her great-grandchildren, Joseph, Brandon, Christopher, Jasmine, Jenna and Vincent III. She will be sadly missed by Rene Abbott, who cared for and lived with mother for the past 11 years, as well as by her nephew Douglas Bouvette of Grand Forks, his wife Marsha, son Thain, daughter Sarah and Grandfather Raymond Bouvette. All the wonderful friends she loved like Aunt Effie Walsh in White Rock BC, She will leave a great void in many lives. Barbara was predeceased by her mother Elizabeth and father Charles Thain of Emerson Manitoba, her sister Janet Bouvette, brother Doug Thain, husband Samuel Love, sister-in-law Lillian Neirnick, and others she is now with. The family wishes to thank Uncle Cam for all of his support and caring. As well, we thank the home care staff who made it possible for mother to spend the last month of her life at home, as she wished. A service will be held to celebrate Barbaras life at her church of many years, The Salvation Army Hampton Citadel, 221 Hampton St. at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 2, 2001. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Childrens Hospital Research Fund, 108-671 William Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0Z2.
